Welcome to The Faradesia Chronicles!

This blog is the official home of Minecraft: The Faradesia Chronicles. The Faradesia Chronicles is an ongoing fan fiction of sorts set in the universe of the smash-hit sandbox/survival/adventure game Minecraft.

Using a ton of imagination, the story is "played out" in the game itself by gamer/writer Eric Biskin. There are two main characters, and while the story is acted out by only one player, the singular player character stands in for both main characters. The gameplay is not recorded, however. Instead, Eric takes mental notes on everything that happens during a given part of the story and writes it all down afterward in a simplistic narrative format. (Initially, events were written down in a very simplistic format that was merely summary that lacked any detail.) In this way, the game serves as an environment in which the story of the main characters, The Maker and Tacky, can unfold "visually" and with limits that are sufficiently realistic to the game's world in Creative Mode. The writing itself is not particularly sophisticated, using a lot of repetitive and choppy language, but the story itself is what is meant to take center stage, rather than the literature that portrays it, which is one of the reasons behind the debatable status of The Faradesia Chronicles as a fan fiction. Basic knowledge---vocabulary such as "Mobs" and how basic gameplay works---of Minecraft is recommended for the full enjoyment of this saga.

The Faradesia Chronicles is the story of a man, The Maker, and a boy, Tacky, both of whom possess the ability to create anything instantly. They use this mysterious power---which comes with other perks, such as invincibility, as well as prices such as a connection to an evil being---to explore and improve their home world of Faradesia, explore the semi-parallel dimensions The Nether and The Aether and the alternate dimension The End, and fight forces that threaten the balance of the universe and universes beyond.

The story is divided up into volumes, which are divided into story arcs, which are divided into chapters. Each volume is a collection of story arcs that may or may not be related. Each story arc contains between two and six chapters---and possibly an interlude, which provides backstory that is not played out in the game by Eric but is necessary to introduce a new part of the plot---that make up one continuous part of the overall plot or multiple closely related parts of the overall plot.

The Faradesia Chronicles is accompanied by downloadable maps of the Faradesia Minecraft world as generated by the external third-party application Unmined, and there are plans to release the world itself in the future so that players can explore Faradesia for themselves, including locations featured in the story, such as Maker's Grove, Desert's Edge (including the Ruined House), The Abandoned Mine, and Sekyl Stronghold.

Praise and constructive criticism are welcome. These can be posted in chapter comments or on Google+ (+mention +Eric Biskin).
